Stanley Kinyua - Director & Founder

Stanley returned to his village after college to teach and give back to his community. Since 2014 he has been leading initiatives to empower women and children with education. He leads all operations and was the driving force behind the Shed A Light library/community center, the feeding program, and the youth sports initiative

Chris Bloomer - Co-Founder

Chris joined Shed A Light in 2020 and supports strategy development and fundraising. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters of Business Administration degree from Tuck School of Business, and a Masters of Public Health degree from Geisel School of Medicine.

Mercy Kawiria - Computer Class Director

Mercy Kawiria is a dedicated Computer Teacher at Shed a Light Initiative, committed to equipping children, youth, and adults with practical digital skills that empower them for education, employment, and everyday life. Professionally, she teaches general computer knowledge, including basic computer skills and is proud to teach computer skills to people in the community. Her lessons cover introduction to computers, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, emailing, internet for job searching, school assignments, research, networking, and even basic coding.

Meet Susan Karimi, our cook for the past two years, who was born and raised in Mara Moja Village. She finds joy in ensuring the kids are well-fed every day, knowing they are nourished and ready for school brings her great happiness.

Joseph Lozain - Library Security Guard

Meet Joseph Lozain, our dedicated security guard, who was raised in Mara Moja, where he developed a deep passion for community development. His commitment to the community extends beyond his daily duties, as he also serves as a referee for local league games during the weekends. An avid sports enthusiast, Joseph actively participates in fostering local sportsmanship, contributing both on and off the field.
